The Story
This year we wanted to do something a little different.
We aimed to honour the rich history of the Performing Arts and it’s home here in the Grampians, but do so in a contemporary way that appeals to all ages, and encapsulated the theme of 2023… FUN!
Our custom cover art includes elements of collage and pattern that inform the look and feel for HPAC across the whole year.
Can you spot a historic view of the 1872 Town Hall (now our beloved Handbury Auditorium) our stage lights, a pattern inspired by our Steinway Concert Grand Piano or the snippets of dance, circus, illusion, music and entertainment we’ve included?
We created a perforated ‘Season at a Glance’ calendar to rip out and pop on your fridge, alongside Top Tips from the team and our personal favourite shows to look forward to!
We've curated a season that includes comedy, dance, circus, cabaret, story-telling, contemporary and classical music, community events, a musical and a host of engaging family shows. We love it."
Meet The Maker
We worked with the talented Hannah Crook on this project, who really brought our vision to life!
“Originally from the Sunshine State (QLD), Hannah now calls Dunkeld, Gunditjmara country home after relocating with her partner for work on-farm.
Hannah is a Senior Designer specialising in brand, digital and publication design.
Now that she’s finished the HPAC Season Brochure, she will be spending more time in her small vineyard, exploring the Southern Grampians region and getting creative with crafty projects!”
Hannah began with two distinct concepts for creative direction themed around our word of the year; ‘FUN’!
Vibrant application of colour, type and collage elements ensured a theme that appealed to all demographics in an inclusive and contemporary way.
Hannah digitally manipulated photographs, tactile elements, illustrations and patterns into a multi-layered artwork for the cover, and then sympathetically drew these elements into the design of the brochure itself.
Our favourite part of the process was uncovering historical photos of Hamilton’s arts precinct, including early HPAC interiors and old Town Hall facades (as seen on the cover).
